Comments from Snoopy

I have a number of pieces of paper stuck to the wall around my computer. Some are information, some are inspiration, and a couple are just to remind me not to take myself too seriously.

One of my favorites is an old Peanuts cartoon, clipped from a newspaper and yellowed with age. It’s three frames long and in each the picture is simply Snoopy, sitting on his doghouse with his trusty typewriter. The text goes like this:

Some nights were dark.
Some nights were stormy.

Some shots rang out.
Some maids screamed.

Some more editors
sent rejection slips.

How about you? What’s on your wall?

I don't have a wall, but taped on my laptop is "Don't Leave for Tomorrow What You Can Do Today"

Love the cartoon.

All the walls in my house are pretty much covered with books. I have three quotes that I keep at hand though:

1) Writers Write.
2) Write is a Verb.
3) A professional writer is an amateur who didn't give up. (Richard Bach)

Have a great day!

Dru - Let me guess, you're not a member of Procrastinaters Anonymous. (I was going to join but kept putting it off.)

MaryC - All good quotes.

Thanks to both of you for commenting.

Just for clarification - the desk where I write has a hutch (crammed with books, research materials, etc.) with a closed back providing a wall all around my monitor. It's covered with quotes, cartoons, clippings, and Lord knows what else. Some are so old they may have achieved historical status.

My computer faces windows so all I see are trees and birds.

But if I look on the desk, between my notes, pens and bills...is dust.

That's why I look out the window. :)

Maria - Oh Lord, I'd never get anything written; I'd spend the whole day watching the birds. This may be tied to the half dozen plus bird feeders I have in my backyard.

Now dust I have.

Thanks for commenting.

LOLOL, what a great cartoon! Love it. I don't have any sayings above my desk--maybe I should get some.

Heather - I have a bunch. Maybe I should let Snoopy handle my blog. :-)

Thanks for commenting.

I'm a quote collector, and have many posted throughout my work space. Like you, I find that some of the sayings are reminders, some inspirational, and others are just thoughts I like. Some of the better ones include:

"A feature article should reflect the reader's involvement with the material." (Unattributed)

"Learning to let go: Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and seriously and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." Attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Few things help an individual more than to place responsibility upon him, and to let him know you trust him." Booker T. Washington

"The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity." Ellen Parr

"Never regret. If it's good, it's wonderful. If it's bad, it's experience." Victoria Holt

Thanks for commenting, Janice. And for giving me a new blog topic.
